Goal:
Iowa Bankers Association (IBA) and the Pigott project team sought to develop a new headquarters layout that would contribute to the breakdown of departmental silos while also allowing an abundance of natural light to enter the space. Flexibility within the workstations was also a top priority of the organization.
Solution:
Pigott worked closely with the architect and contractor to ensure key dates were met for an on-time client move-in. Design insights were gained through the Pigott discovery process with focused conversations, group activities, and individual interviews with those on the IBA leadership team. IBA wanted to prioritize employee and visitor comfort and floorplan flexibility for future organizational growth.
The Pigott team focused on employee comfort and breaking down departmental silos by specifying shorter workstation solutions. By designing a layout with shorter workstation heights, the space is more open, allowing for easier conversation between employees. The lower workstations also permit more natural light to fill the office. Designing for flexibility in each workstation was key, and the usage of Knoll Fence provides IBA with this functionality without hindering the overall elevated and sleek aesthetic. This aesthetic was achieved by implementing a mixture of functional, yet modern furniture pieces and is consistent throughout all areas of the office: collaboration spaces, coffee and break areas, small conference rooms, and a large boardroom.
Plans for organizational growth were discussed throughout the design and planning process. At the recommendation of the Pigott team, IBA chose to use one kit-of-parts across multiple departments to simplify future changes to the space. IBA is proud to now provide a bright, comfortable, and welcoming place for all banking members to visit.
