Two Rivers Marketing
Des Moines, IA
Goal:
When Two Rivers Marketing (2RM) began searching for a new office, they looked to the historic East Village in Des Moines for a space that could support their next chapter. With hybrid work reshaping daily patterns, their goal was to create a workplace that reflects how their team works today while drawing people back into the office. This included reducing their footprint without lowering headcount and thoughtfully integrating reused furniture with new solutions to support performance and sustainability.
Solution:
Pigott partnered with 2RM and Substance Architecture to create a space that reflects how their team works today, while strengthening culture and collaboration. The design centers around three distinct zones – active, conference, and focus work – each supporting specific modes of work. These zones guided decisions around layout, furniture reuse, and new product integration, ensuring that every element contributes to a cohesive and adaptable environment.
Our design team evaluated 2RM’s existing furniture, identifying legacy pieces to reuse, such as Herman Miller workstations and Eames tabletops, that could be repurposed to support the goal and layout of the new space. Rather than simply reusing pieces, we thought through their adaptability and how they could enhance functionality within the active, conference, and focus areas, blending familiar elements with new solutions to honor the past while supporting current work styles.
Working closely with Substance Architecture, we integrated existing assets with new systems, including open office benching and lower panel solutions to create flexible spaces within the work area. To bring structure and transparency, we provided glass-fronted conference areas and focus rooms from Falkbuilt, providing enclosed areas without compromising natural light or visibility. This allows private work and collaboration to coexist seamlessly within the same environment.
Throughout the design and execution processes, our team focused on creating a workplace that truly works for the 2RM team today. By combining intentional zoning, thoughtful reuse of legacy furniture, and new flexible solutions, Pigott delivered a space that supports collaboration, focus, and movement while also being a place employees want to come to each day. The result is an environment that balances functionality, culture, and comfort, encouraging engagement and making the office a destination rather than just a place to work.
