Goal:
When LifeServe Blood Center began planning its new headquarters in Johnston, they envisioned a welcoming, connected environment that would bring together blood donation, laboratory operations, and administrative teams. Their goal was to create comfortable places for donors and staff, encourage collaboration, and support the organization’s evolving needs, as well as the communities they serve.
Solution:
Pigott worked closely with LifeServe and BNIM to provide space planning and furniture design for the new headquarters, supporting donors, employees, and the teams overseeing blood processing and distribution.
To support LifeServe’s vision of the donor experience, Pigott provided custom donation carts tailored to the team’s specifications. The donor area offers views beyond the donation setting, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere, while a respite area furnished with Eames tables and seating provides a comfortable place to relax.
Within the office areas, Pigott created settings for both individual work and collaboration. Open workstations featuring Knoll Fence, Herman Miller Nevi height-adjustable tables, and Knoll ReGeneration task seating support everyday work, with informal gathering areas integrated into the floor plan to encourage connection across teams. Furniture solutions complemented the surrounding architecture and helped make the most of the building’s natural light and views. Enclosed meeting spaces, traditional conference rooms, lounge-style meeting rooms, and a boardroom give employees options for focused conversations, group discussions, and larger meetings. Pigott also provided laboratory furnishings to support technical operations and outdoor furniture to create additional places to gather and recharge.
Together, these solutions helped create a welcoming, cohesive headquarters that balances donor comfort with the demands of daily operations. The result supports collaboration and provides flexibility for LifeServe’s future needs as they continue serving their communities.
